What do I get for free?

Dashcam Export is Free to use, with no limit on how many clips you combine or how long the finished video runs. Free exports carry a watermark. Pro is an optional one-time unlock that removes the watermark and adds automatic face masking and privacy zones, with no subscription.

Is my dashcam footage private?

Accepted Answer

All video processing happens locally on your Mac, and Dashcam Export does not upload footage. Your footage stays on your Mac unless you explicitly export or save it, and saving to Photos can sync it through iCloud when iCloud Photos is enabled. Free exports are for personal review and leave faces and plates visible. Pro unlocks automatic face masking and privacy zones for sharing.

Dashcam Export supports Tesla, VIOFO, BlackVue, Kenwood, firmware-verified 70mai, and generic timestamp-based formats. Vueroid support is experimental. Tesla GPS is beta; Kenwood GPS is unavailable.

What are the system requirements?

Dashcam Export requires macOS 15 Sequoia or later, and an Apple Silicon or Intel Mac with Metal support. The app uses GPU acceleration via Apple Metal for efficient 4K processing.

Can I export just one camera angle?

Yes. You can export a single angle, multiple angles in various multiplex configurations, or all angles as separate videos at once.

What video formats does it export?

Accepted Answer

Dashcam Export exports standard MP4 or MOV files. You can choose Original quality (passthrough - no re-encoding), High quality (H.264/HEVC at high bitrate), or Medium quality (H.264 at reduced bitrate for smaller files).

How long does exporting take?

Accepted Answer

It depends on your hardware and export settings. Original quality exports are fastest since they don’t re-encode. Multiplex exports with re-encoding take longer but are still GPU-accelerated for speed.
